Configure import settings
- 3 min.
A reconciliation begins with you importing your external documents, such as bank statements or invoices, into Business Central. Based on the import settings, Banking Import can automatically start performing the first matches, which is why it's important to understand, review and maybe tweak the import settings for reconciliation.
The most relevant settings for the import and reconciliation are pre-configured and ready to use in reconciliation. However, on the Banking Import Setup page and on the Bank Account card, you can further customize the setup of automatic matching of entries, tolerances for payment proposal variations, and default journals and templates used in the reconciliation.
Adjust general import settings
On the Banking Import Setup page, you can adjust the general import settings for Banking Import:
Import FastTab. Set the default field to be used as the statement description and transaction text when importing bank transactions.
Matching FastTab. Enable automatic matching for specific ledger entries, set the matching tolerance, and choose the types of rules to apply during reconciliation.
Amount Difference FastTab. Specify the account type and account number to use when you need to handle amount differences during reconciliation.
Bank Account Reconciliation FastTab. Link a Cash Receipt, General, or Payment Journal to be used for during bank account reconciliation. This simplifies situations where no matching ledger entries exist in Continia Banking, as the relevant ledger entries then will be created automatically in the linked journals.
Payment Reconciliation FastTab. Decide if only one balance account entry per posting date should be created when posting a payment reconciliation journal.
For more details about each specific setting, refer to the article Configuring Bank Statement Import Settings on Continia Docs.
Adjust import settings on the bank account card
In addition to the Banking import settings, you can customize the import settings for each individual bank account. Any settings you adjust on the bank account card will override the general settings from the Bank Import Setup page.
For example, you can choose to use other journals for reconciling a specific bank account than those set by default in Banking Import, or specify a different tolerance for when a ledger entry is automatically matched with a statement line.
