Set up emission types
- 4 min.
Each company has business activities that link to different sources of emissions, and the Emission Types feature in Continia Sustainability is where you set up and configure these sources.
You will have the default emission categories to begin with:
- Fuel
- Industrial processes
- Fugitive emissions
- Electricity
- Steam
- Heating
- Cooling
During the setup for emission types, you can create a link to an emissions factor set so that all future postings with this emission type will not need to have the emissions factor set up separately.
From the role center, navigate to Emission Types, and then select from the default emission types. These emission types are designed to cover all business activities.
Each emission type page lists the different available emission types ready to be used when creating environmental journal entries and posting to environmental accounts.
You add new emission types for reasons such as:
- The electricity supplies for your different regional offices have different emission profiles
- An air conditioning system in one of your offices is converted to use a different refrigerant gas
- Your company purchases new vehicles which run on a different type of petrol
Set up emission type cards
On each emission type card, the Default Unit Type and Code is configured in the Continia Sustainability Setup. If needed, it can be changed from the Emission Type Card.
You also need to define the Emissions Factor that links to this emission type.
- Choose the relevant Emission Factor Set, Category and Code.
- The Number of Emission Factors shows you the available units of measurement that can be converted from in order to produce the emission calculation.
