Set up bank account communication
- 4 min.
The first of the required assisted setup guides is Bank Account Setup. You may already have set up your company bank accounts in Business Central, but to use the many functionalities of Continia Banking, the bank accounts must also be set up with Continia Banking. When you do that, a corresponding bank will be created in Business Central, along with a bank system.
The bank card specifies the details of the communication agreement between Business Central and the bank.
The bank system defines how the bank data will be validated and handled when the bank data is exported from or imported into Business Central.
Before you set up the banks, it’s advised to review your options and understand the requirements. For instance, based on your bank and country, the available communication methods and file type requirements may vary.
Check out this overview for an overview of all the supported banks in your country. Navigate to the individual onboarding article for the specific details.
Bank communication methods
When setting up your company bank accounts with Continia Banking, you have different options for how you want to exchange files and data between your bank and Business Central:
Direct communication: Automates the entire data exchange process between Business Central and your bank, and you can say goodbye to the manual process of importing and exporting bank files.
Direct communication through open bank providers: Direct communication can also be facilitated by open bank providers.
Manual communication: The traditional method for exchanging banking files between Business Central and your bank. It involves manually saving and importing files.
Cloud storage with Azure Blob Storage: If your bank supports exchanging files via cloud, Continia Banking supports Azure Blob Storage as an option for storing and retrieving these files.
Important
To use direct communication, you must first include the Direct Communication module in your Continia Banking subscription separately. Please refer to the article Activate Continia Banking on Continia Docs.
Set up your bank accounts
The assisted Bank Account Setup guide helps you set up your bank accounts for Continia Banking. The guide starts automatically after you've activated Continia Banking, but you can also start it, and other assisted setup guides, manually from the Continia Banking Setup page:
Search for and open Continia Banking Setup. In the action bar, select Assisted Setup.
Select Set Up Bank Accounts and follow the guide.
The steps in the guide vary slightly depending on the bank you're setting up and the type of bank communication you choose.
However, it’s important to pay attention to the final step. It informs you if you need to take additional actions, such as contacting your bank to finalize the agreement or ordering specific bank files. It also includes links to a detailed overview of your bank's specific requirements for manual or direct communication.
