Getting Started with Continia Document Output

Document Output is an end-to-end solution for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central that enables you to automate and streamline the distribution of your business documents. It’s easy to sign up and get started, and there’s no need for complex integrations, as Document Output is already fully integrated into Business Central.

Get familiar with Document Output.

As Document Output is built inside Business Central, the user interface will be familiar to existing users of Business Central. Some things will be unfamiliar to both new and experienced users, though. To get help with anything you’re unsure about, check out one of the valuable resources listed below. Which resource to use depends on your situation:

  • Continia Docs (this site) – the official Continia documentation site, which features a large number of helpful articles for beginners, IT professionals, and anyone in between
  • Continia Learn – Continia's online learning platform with educational articles, videos, and exercises, completely free and accessible to anyone who's curious to know more about Document Output and other Continia solutions.
  • Continia partners – the go-to point of contact for end users
  • Continia PartnerZone – Continia’s dedicated learning portal exclusively for partners

All certified Continia partners are also official Business Central partners and are all expert users of both Document Output and Business Central. To find out more, see Resellers and Partners.

Note

Only partners have access to the Continia PartnerZone and Continia Learn. As an end user, you’ll have to contact your existing Business Central partner for any queries that you can’t find answers to on Continia Docs.

Extended Role Centers

Document Output is an add-on that significantly enhances the user interface and functionality of Business Central. It does this by extending some of the standard Role Centers in Business Central, adding a new section with several useful cues.

Document Output section is divided into several cue groups, each containing multiple relevant cues relating to unhandled sales, service, finance documents, etc.

The following standard Business Central Role Centers have been extended with this section:

  • Bookkeeper Role Center
  • Order Processor Role Center
  • Service Dispatcher Role Center
  • Accountant Role Center
  • Purchasing Agent Role Center
  • Business Manager Role Center
  • Purchasing Manager Role Center
  • Sales & Marketing Manager Role Center

Free trial using your own company

Important

The free-trial option is only available to users of Business Central online.

If you’re thinking about subscribing, you can try out Document Output for free for a 30-day trial period. To do this, go to Microsoft AppSource and search for Continia Document Output. Choose the related link and select Free trial in the upper-left corner. This will install Document Output, which is then ready for activation and setup using assisted setup guides.

You must be assisted by your Continia partner when activating any version of Document Output, including trials. This ensures that everything is done correctly, and that you’re off to a good start with the app.

Once activated and set up, Document Output can be used to its full extent at no charge for up to 30 days or until you've sent the maximum number of emails or printed the maximum number of documents. Toward the end of the free-trial period, you’ll be asked if you’d like to subscribe to Document Output to keep using it. If you decide to subscribe at any point during the trial period, you’re already up and running, and you can then continue your work and keep using the same data as in the trial period.

Looking for answers

If you have questions about functionality or are unsure about anything else in Document Output, you may be able to find the answers you’re looking for in the actual user interface of the app. Most fields have an associated tooltip that describes the field in question and usually includes a Learn more link for further information.

If you cannot find what you’re looking for in the tooltips, please contact your Continia partner or check out the other resources mentioned above under Get familiar with Document Output.

Ready to subscribe?

You can always subscribe to Document Output to get the full app version more permanently, with no limitations. If you like, you can subscribe right away and get started immediately, but you’re also very welcome to subscribe at any point during or directly following your free trial period. If you start with a trial period, you’re already up and running at the time of subscription, and you can then continue working with the same data as in the trial period.

As mentioned above, you must be assisted by your Continia partner when activating any version of Document Output to ensure that you get up and running correctly.
